Lunch Post II: The Bloggering

Brevity is of the essence; I must go to third period soon. I merely wish to comment on my own foolishness regarding blogging: I write a good deal of posts, but read far fewer than I ought to. This is an apology to all you bloggers who I follow but whom I have neglected to read. I am working on it. The same applies to literature, because one must observe the art as one engages in it. I'm reading more scripts now (currently Pamela Pettler's script to the film 9) and I am also reading posts by both people I know personally and those I don't. I have known people who don't want to read and (gods help them) don't like to read - and consider themselves writers. Stephen King gave a funny speech at Yale about that. I might post it later, depending on stuff.

I must away!

Happy blog reading and/or writing,
Lewis

New Destination

I believe I may have mentioned this, but tomorrow I set flight for California. Never before have I been so far west; I have looked forward to going there since I was eleven or so. We are to go to San Francisco, Big Sir, Yosemite, and Monterrey. I hope to see the ocean sunfish at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium: I always wanted to.

There are a couple of wee issues arisen from this excursion: 1) I might not blog as frequently or on time, 2) I prefer not to bring library books across the country, even though they constitute much of my reading, and 3) I won't be able to attend a lot of the filming for the library. But I'll try to make the most of this. It's California! What could go wrong?

You just lost the game.

Sorry!!!

I do realize I did not post last night. I also realize how late this is tonight. I have no good excuse for last night other then that I forgot until it was after midnight. Tonight I was at a friend's house filming, or rather practice-filming, for the Rot & Ruin book trailer for our library. It's fun, as it involves plenty of sword action - I love swords. But my mother doesn't trust me with a real one. Hence, I have a wooden one and a plastic one. Someday I'll have real ones (although possibly with dulled edges); I especially fancy katanas and French rapiers. Maybe I ought to take a fencing class sometime, but oh! do I have so many things to do.

This friend has a really nice piece of land complete with horses. She also has a nice selection of books. What can I say? I love observing bookcases. Her mother is a fantastic cook who made us spaghetti and garlic bread, and the dad is nice too.

In case I have not mentioned, I have ridden horseback in the past. Mind you, it's been a while, but I have. I enjoy it greatly. I might be riding again soon, at long last, at Dead Broke Farm in Raleigh -  the place I first rode at. I'd ridden in the kiddie corrals before at parties and state fairs, but Dead Broke was the first place at which I really rode. I visited the place after years in November and they had Guinea-fowl and turkeys and chickens as well as a miniature horse.

Oh, I must go and record a YouTube video now if I can. Fare thee well!

Lewis

After the Crack of Dawn

I'm up rather early this morning, and have to leave for school in less than an hour. Thought I'd get an article in. But what should I say? This is what I refer to as "blogging for the sake of blogging." Nothing wrong with it, I suppose. Recently I began two new blogs, and I plan on a fourth. In Number Four, I'll blog about music. I still need to get guitar lessons, but I've been playing piano for many years (and still must improve, ha). I'm thinking to call myself Winter...is that one taken? My styles seem to be rock, epic, and relaxing. I think I can manage, no?

Here it is. The sun seems to be rising, so I'm going to post there now, but I shall hopefully return soon.

Winter: Now on Tumblr.

I am now on Tumblr. My account is here. I have a blog post on there, so this is only one of my online blog-journal-things. By the way, why is there a period after "Tumblr"? Curious.

Tomorrow is my good friend Hannah's birthday party; which should be fun. I believe there will be music, seeing as she asked us to bring instruments. Currently I only play piano, so I shall bring a largish keyboard over (she said I could!), but sometime she says she'll teach me guitar. I also want to learn some kind of "blowing" instrument (woodwind or brass), but I agree with what my Grandma Shannon says: It's probably too late in the game to join band. So I think I'll try to do it outside of school.

Speaking of music, Ezra is trying to set up a band for me, Hannah, and Olivia to play in. It was originally intended as a wrock (wizard rock) band, but we might do other things as well. I have written two Dumbledore-related songs so far, and am working on a third titled "Ode to Lemon Drops." But I think we'll do a variety of things, and most of all have fun. I think this will work out well.

I have to go see I Am Number Four now, but I'll try to post again soon.

Until then, farewell!

Bronchitis and Stuff

Hey, I posted two days in a row! I feel so accomplished.

Yes indeed, I have bronchitis and pneumonia. I asked my mother if I was going to die, and she replied, "Someday." Ironically, my father had the same answer. I'm sure I'll survive (I always do, it seems), but it's not been pleasant. It hurt to breathe (it just tingles now), and I'd occasionally feel a quick stabbing pain in the chest.

Enough of those details: I should say that I had a rather nice Valentine's Day and ate plenty of chocolate and a super-sour candy called Warheads. I went on a long walk down some trail, and while I could see the distant backs of houses, I felt like I was nowhere near human civilization. Not only was I in the wild; I was on faery grounds. Call me childish, but I will take it as a compliment. It felt so surreal, so oneiric. I went on until I reached the highway they are building, at which point my mother called me to tell me to come home.

Today I returned to school and wrote (or rather, rewrote from memory) a piece of flash fiction that could pass for micro fiction in CW. I may be an aspiring novelist, but right now I only seem to be able to write small stuff. If it's not too much to say, however, I rather enjoyed writing it, and thought it was a good story. I might post it on my Figment (and yes, I use my real name on there), and my first CW story (currently titled "The Death of Love") is already up there.

So yes, I am not altogether well, but I am able to blog. =)

I need to do some stuff now, but comment or whatever!

Toodles!
